classic mü
The award-winning card game Mü & more by Doris & Frank (“Spiel des Jahres recommendation list” 1996, “Best Card Game” Fairplay 1996, “Top 5” Deutscher Spielepreis) is still considered one of the best trick-taking games ever, especially for 5 players. It has many unique elements, such as revealing cards in order to get a special role before the trick-taking starts, choosing two types of trumps and determining your team partner.
Of course, you can also play our new edition with the classic rules. Here you can download the classic rules including a scoring table as well as a way to play the classic rules with the new tokens:
Terminology
- Most terms are the same! However, the Chief is now the Crown player, and the Vice is now the Shield player. (And the teams are the Chief team and Shield team.)
Easier Auctions
- Auctions in which players bid will never end in a stalemate. There will always be a Crown player!
- There is only one tie-breaker to determine which players are Crown and Shield: whoever plays the most cards first.
- New Indicator tokens actively show which players will be the Crown and Shield as the auction progresses.
Choosing Trumps and Partner
- This works the same, except that both Crown and Shield may choose ‘No Trump’ if desired.
- New indicators let players always see the chosen trumps, the amount the Crown player bid, and the Crown team’s Team Goal (their point requirement to win).
Trick-Taking
- Same as the original Mü!
Easier Scoring for Both Teams
- All team members get the same bonus if they win (naturally the Crown team scores more!). Also, only positive points are scored – no player or team can ever score negative points..
- Updated scoring works as follows:- All players score personal points from their own tricks.
– The winning team earns a bonus for their leader’s number of cards bid: 10 points per card for the Crown, or 5 each for the Shield.
– The Trump Bonuses now arrive in 10s: Color trumps are worth 10 points, 1s and 7s are 20 points, and so on. - Lastly, bonus points (bid bonus + trump bonus) no longer cap at 100.
